Job Description: Lead Pastor

POSITION SUMMARY

New   Providence   Community   Church   is   a  vibrant,   diverse,   and   growing  multi- denominational community of faith, committed to serving God and loving  our neighbors. We are seeking a dedicated, passionate, and experienced Lead Pastor to join  our team and lead our community in spiritual growth and service. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, be forward thinking and continually exploring innovative ways to effectively reach others with the gospel. The candidate should have a keen understanding of the Bahamian culture and develop church outreach and programs that embraces the diversity. THE CHURCH

Founded in 1993,  under the visionary leadership of Pastor Clint Kemp a youth pastor of a local denomination, New Providence Community Church (NPCC) is  a vibrant growing church located on  the island of  New Providence, The Bahamas. For over 31  years the church has established a rich legacy of  community outreach, local partnerships and service throughout the islands of The Bahamas and continues to be a beacon of light in our community. The church moved to its current location in the Western district of New Providence in 2003.

At  New Providence  Community  Church,  we are a community  of  people  who  love God, love people and we are committed to following the teachings of Jesus and living our lives according to the word of God.  We are committed to reaching the unchurched and those disillusioned with the traditional church experience. We believe that the community of believers should be the  light and the  salt of  the  world. The multi-generational church offers ministries and small groups for every age and is  actively involved in outreach initiatives in the community.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide spiritual leadership and pastoral care to the congregation fostering a culture of faith, love, and service.

  • Develop  and  deliver  engaging,  biblically based weekly  sermons  during  worship services, as well as on special occasions and events.

  • Plan  and lead  services,  collaborating with the pastoral team, and ensuring  that services are meaningful and spiritually enriching.

  • Provide oversight of pastoral care for members of the congregation, including visiting the sick, counseling those in need, and offering support during times of crisis.

  • Facilitate and encourage spiritual growth and discipleship through the development and implementation of small group ministries, Bible studies, and other educational programs.

  • Work with the Elders and pastoral staff to establish and execute a strategic, long- term, vision-driven plan for the church’s growth and leadership development.

  • Engage and build relationships within the local community, participating in outreach and  mission activities,  and   collaborating  with  other  organizations  to  address community needs.

  • Oversee the  administration   and  management  of  church  operations, including budgeting, financial planning, and personnel management in the church office. Mentor, supervise,  and support pastoral  staff and volunteers,  fostering  a positive, collaborative work environment with robust leadership development.

  • Perform  other   pastoral   duties, including weddings, funerals, baptisms, and dedications, as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A deep commitment to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

  • A degree from an accredited institution, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • An ordained minister in good standing within a recognized Church.

  • A minimum  of 5 years of pastoral  experience  in a similar  role,  with  a proven track record of effective leadership, ministry development, and community outreach. Exceptional   communication   skills,   with   the   ability  to  connect   with   a  diverse congregation and adapt to various ministry contexts.

  • Strong  leadership  skills,   with  a passion  for empowering  others and fostering  a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

  • A deep understanding of and commitment to the Bible, Christian theology, and the application of ministry in a nontraditional environment.

  • Demonstrated   ability  to  manage   multiple   priorities,   organize   events, and  work effectively under pressure.

  • A heart for pastoral  care and the ability to provide  compassionate  and empathetic support to congregation members in times of need.
